Madoka returns to his Deep Records roots with a monstrous follow-up on its sister label Deep Focus. Already hailed by critics and fans alike as Madoka’s finest work since 2002’s “Slightly Forward” on SAW Recordings, “Metamotional” received early acclaim from James Holden, Max Graham, and Ben Watt. Of course, the track’s title would later be used as the name of Madoka’s digital record label that is still releasing music in 2024!
“This is some inspirational work from Mark Venneri, and his best work yet, even overshadowing his work as Akodama. It’s not a case of always pushing slightly forward anymore, as Madoka is now pushing things forward to exciting and unknown frontiers, giving Deep Focus its best release yet.”
Simon Jones, Progressive-Sounds
“Metamotional” is an understated gem with carefully crafted twists and turns, soft rolling drums, and constantly evolving textures. With this release, Madoka created a new sound palette with fresh, personalized effects. The result is deep, funky, and driving.”Inhale” is a return to Madoka’s big-room antics, but again, explored in this piece with a new wall of sound, twisted sampling techniques, and an extremely lush breakdown.
