“Altered” quietly made waves since it was first tested in the clubs. Originally featured in his Winter Music Conference 2003 sets, Steven Caicedo of Proton Radio fame hammered the track.

Adam Nathan and Jerome Robins of Release Records also discovered the track then. After playing it on their Proton Radio show Forward, Max Graham was tuned in that day and inquired about signing the song to his upcoming Shinemusic. The rest is history! Graham included the song on his Shine (2004, US) compilation, and Paul Oakenfold caned the original mix for months.
