About The Mix

Now also my official September promo, I originally recorded this mix exclusively for Patty and her Serendipity show on Proton Radio. This mix can only be summed up as sublime. The transitions between some of the mixes turned out amazing and so incredibly smooth. Since I had a late start recording the 3-hour beast on September 2, I rushed myself a bit after the mix was finished and passed on the notion of any type of finalizing in order to get this mix uploaded before my deadline. The quality was good enough, especially mixed down at 192kbps for Proton to stream.
However, I was a little bent that I couldn’t give it the true Madoka mastering session to warm up this gorgeous, gliding piece. So I decided to mix it down again and really give it a solid, final Madoka touch just for the headz and collectors out there. Because I had this opportunity, I also decided to fix an edit here and there. All extremely minor and most just cutting a bar or two to increase the overall flow of the big picture. I have labelled this version of the mix my Director’s Cut. This process is unusual for me, since I maintain a strict personal policy when recording a mix, especially with Ableton Live. I always record my mixes in only one shot, without any post-editing and most of the time, without an official tracklist. Being spontaneous is important to me, just like playing a live gig. I try to maintain that level of DJ authenticity, if you will, regarding my mobile setup and digital ideology.
Below are some of the raw notes I took to later make my edits. My Director’s Cut will also be distributed around the net and will be the official copy in my archives. I figured I would give this mix the same high quality treatment I give every Madoka mix. I guess I also found the concept of a Director’s Cut very intriguing for some reason today and decided it may actually be pretty cool to have some small insight into someone’s creative process if you were interested in such technical details. But then again, the beauty of this mix IS in the details, so they better be TIGHT!!! — Madoka
P.S. A little tribute to Underworld just for Patty….since the mix WAS recorded for HER show! See you soon Patty!!!!
